June 2002

From my journal:

Am I closer to You? I start my day here with You. And my thoughts wander back to You throughout my day over and over again. But these times are intermingled with nothingness and punctuated by sin. Is this the closest I can get to You? To holiness?
Is this normal to want so much more? Am I missing something --- like a discipline I’ve yet to employ or a sin that I’ve yet to shake permanently? Or…is it simply that I am human, but with my citizenship in heaven --- there’s this void? A void I can’t cross until my earthly death?

If I can get closer to You and I’m simply blind to how --- or if there is sin in me that I can be working to rid myself of --- I implore you to enlighten my soul with Your Spirit.

If there’s little more I can do other than to remain consistent in my attempts at relating --- then meet me here more deeply. This may sound odd – but it’s the best way I can explain it…I miss You, Father. My heart just misses You.’

Are you missing God lately? Then, by all means, make concrete plans right now to spend a block of time alone with Him very soon. You will not regret it.
