December 01 ~ The Light of Creation

Genesis 1:1-4

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Imagine being in a dark room. Then all of a sudden, somebody turns on the light. Now you can see everything! Before the beginning of the world, it was just like that. Everything was in total darkness. God created the Light.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.(John 1:1-4)

Jesus was there with God in the beginning. Jesus lights our world so we can see our way and He lights our way to God as well.

Making the Symbol

Items Needed
• Blue, green and white paper
• glue
• scissors
• string
• circle pattern

1. Cut out a circle in the blue paper. Make it as big as you want, this is the base of the earth.
2. Either cut or tear the green paper into land pieces. It does not have to be perfect, just approximate to look like the earth.
3. Tear a small white piece for the ice cap on the top of the earth.
4. Glue your pieces on and use a piece of string to make a hanger.
