What is The Jesse Tree?

~ `

The Jesse Tree tells the story of God's redemptive plan for the world through the use of symbols from both the Old and New Testaments. The symbols trace the heritage of Jesus Christ from the beginning of Creation through His Second Coming. The name for the Jesse Tree is recorded several places in scripture, but the most prominent is Isaiah 11.

"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked." (Isaiah 11:1-4)

The Devotional Guide that we are providing on Parents for Christ is just that, a guide. It is appropriate to use with children and they understand and if desired, read. If you would like you can print it out for personal use only. (In your home)

There are songs also that goes along with the scriptures that you are studying listed. With each scripture and devotional thought there is also a symbol that you can choose to make to put on your own Jesse Tree.

The symbols can be made as fancy or as simple as you desire. There is no definitive pattern that has to be used. The focus is on what the symbols mean, not what they look like. The main objective is to bring the family together, while learning about God and His Son.

The tree itself can be made of a small Christmas Tree, or a medium sized branch. It is up to the family of what is more convenient.
