National Day of Prayer - May 5, 2005

~ Faith Johnson

Just Reminding everybody that today is the National Day of Prayer. I felt I should share some scripture with you too. Let us all go before the Lord.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us, then, feel free to come before God's throne. Here there is grace. And we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it. (NCV)

While you read your Bible today and spend your time with the Lord, please keep our nation in prayer. Pray for the troops, the leaders in government, the people that teach our children, the schools, the children, and the entire nation.

Prayer is very important in our daily lives. We, as Christians should pray daily. In fact, we are told to "Pray without ceasing" 1 Thessalonians 5:17(KJV)

As Christians we are to pray for the sick, and for those that come to us asking for prayer.

James 5:15-16
And the prayer that is said with faithwill make a sick person well. The Lord will heal him. And if he has sinned, God will forgive him. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other. Do this so God can heal you. When a good man prays, great things happen.(NCV)

We shouldn't worry about how we are going to be able to provide for our families and meet our needs. Pray to God, he will provide and give us the Peace we need to get through troubled times.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks. And God's peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The peace that God gives is so great that we cannot understand it.(NCV)

Even when we have people coming against us, the best thing for us to do is pray.

Matthew 5:44
I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.(NCV)

Pray morning, noon and night! Pray to the Lord and he will hear you.

Psalms 55:17
Evening and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.(KJV)

We should also be awrae that we are not pray so that peple think high of us. Our prayers should be from our hearts and meant for the Lord to hear. Pray for what is needed and the Lord will bless you. But while you pray, make sure you forgive those that have wronged you so that the Lord will forgive you.

Mathew 6: 5-15
When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in their synagogues and on the street corners and pray loudly. They want people to see them pray. I tell you the truth. They already have their full reward. When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door. Then pray to your Father who cannot be seen. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
And when you pray, don't be like those people who don't know God. They continue saying things that mean nothing. They think that God will hear them because of the many things they say. Don't be like them. Your Father knows the things you need before you ask him. So when you pray, you should pray like this:
'Our Father in heaven,
we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come.
We pray that what you want will be done,
here on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us the food we need for each day.
Forgive us the sins we have done,
just as we have forgiven those who did wrong against us.
Do not cause us to be tested;
but save us from the Evil One.'
Yes, if you forgive others for the things they do wrong, then your Father in heaven will also forgive you for the things you do wrong. But if you don't forgive the wrongs of others, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrong things you do. (NCV)

Please keep our troops in prayer. It doesn't matter if you agree with why our guys are in Iraq and Afganistan, or anywhere else in the world. Just pray for their protection, the guys and gals need it.

I'm praying for you!
